Lets Make A Difference
Could you imagine if your girl was kidnaped to be sent to another country and forced into having sex with strangers? If you have a boy, he could be kidnaped to experience forced labor on farm field or factories. It is almost something you cannot imagine happening to you. According to the International Labor Organization, “almost 21 million people are victims of forced labor – 11.4 million women and girls and 9.5 million men and boys” (2015). Nearly twenty one million incent men, woman, and children in the world are illegally forced to do something they did not want to do or tricked into doing something for the profit and gain of someone else.
These twenty one million people need a voice because they do not have one. This is why I propose that you go out and spread the awareness of this issue that gets little to no voice in the world. I do not mean go out locally but globally because this is a global issue. The first thing that anybody can be do is make a website based on human trafficking because there is nothing more global then the World Wide Web. Secondly, if you want to really help those twenty one million people you could join an aid group for human trafficking that goes out in the world.
By creating a website you help spread the word about human trafficking to millions of people. According to Internet World Stats, 2,925,249,355 people in the world used the Internet in 2014 (2014). All of those people, which is 40% of the world population, could possibly stumble upon your website one day teaching them about the issue of human trafficking. The more people spread the word the more it becomes a demanding issue to fix by nations. For one's website to get the amount of audience to make a difference, he or she is going to have to promote their website by advertising on other popular websites, billboards, and even at your workplace. Something that can really boost your websites global effectiveness is making the website in multiple languages. That way people who do not speak English will be able to understand what your website is about. Look at the picture to your right, it shows that most of human trafficking is based out of Africa and Asia. Its logical to make your website available in languages know to those areas.
Now going out to places like Africa for instance is really important because it shows the people of these countries that others care. You can do this by joining an international human trafficking aid group. These groups do thing to help fight against human trafficking from helping survivors get back on their feet to advocating for the stop of human trafficking around the world. By helping victims of human trafficking, you are spreading awareness by giving these victims hope and with hope anything can be done. When other people from other nations see a person from an international aid organization helping them and advocating for them, it can make the people feel they are not alone and more likely to stand up to human trafficking.
Human trafficking is a bad business. According to United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, “traffickers make an estimated $32 billion annually, human trafficking is one of the world's most shameful crimes and one which robs people of their dignity and basic rights” (2012). It simply needs to be put to an end. The fight against human trafficking is not going to be something that is resolved over night, but raising awareness is sure a key to the fight. It can lead to stronger laws in countries and help lower the amount of people getting tricked into human trafficking. No one wants to see human trafficking go on so lets all put a hand in and raise awareness.

Overall, I like this assignment because it is me voicing my ideas on the topic, but this does not mean it was the easiest. Brainstorming for this assignment was the hardest part of the assignment. Human Trafficking is a such a difficult issue to combat because it is so global and connected. This made it difficult to come up with something, and I really wanted to come up with something I thought would truly help with the fight against human trafficking. The op-ed makes me realize my way of thinking is growing up and evolving to something that is needed to do good things in the world.
